Report: ‘Barring Playoff Run, Changes to Eagles Staff Coming’

The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to make "significant" coaching staff changes "barring a playoff run," according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

"I haven't spoken to Jeffrey Lurie, the Eagles owner—he hasn't replied to a text message either, but I do know his history," Mortensen said. "Even when Andy Reid was coaching Philadelphia, he will hold people accountable if you are performing below expectations. Right now, the Eagles are performing below expectations. Barring a run in the playoffs, I would say there's going to be some significant changes on the Philadelphia (coaching) staff. And I'm not saying Doug Pederson will get fired, but I think there will be some staff changes, significantly."

After a brutal 37-31 loss at the lowly Dolphins on Sunday, things are not good in Eagles land. "Significant" coaching changes, not named Pederson, could mean defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz and offensive coordinator Mike Groh. Groh, who was previously the team's wide receivers coach in 2017, has been constantly criticized all season for the lack of progression from the skill position players.

The Eagles, amazingly, at 5-7 are still not out of the playoffs as they trail the Cowboys by just one game in the NFC East and still host Dallas on December 22nd.
